Legislative Alerts
The Economy
We believe the private sector is most effective at expanding Florida’s economy and creating jobs. Action by the Legislature to streamline government, minimize tax burden, institute tort reform, and improve the regulatory environment will help Florida lead the nation in recovering from the recession.
VISIT FLORIDA
We believe that tourism is the key to reviving our state’s economy. Our government has a responsibility to fulfill its obligation to partner with the private sector to fully fund VISIT FLORIDA.
School Calendar
We believe the Legislative intent of the school start date statute should be maintained without waivers.
Immigration Reform
Reforms should protect our state’s tourism industry and mitigate the potential for economic boycotts which might result from attempts to introduce measures outside of Federal directives.
Unemployment Compensation
A business-centric solution must be instituted to resolve the deficit in the state’s unemployment trust fund, the continuing burden of payments to the fund, and the repayment of the debt incurred by borrowing funds from the federal government.
Expansion of uses of Tourist Development Taxes or Bed Tax Expansion
We oppose expansion of the uses of existing Tourist Development Taxes or increases in Bed Tax collection beyond current statutory limits.
Handbills Distribution
We support increased enforcement and penalties for unauthorized distribution of advertisements on private property such as lodging establishments.
